Makeup over 50

I’ve never understood the point of putting makup on with a trowel! Have you seen actresses who are so pretty that their choice of makeup actually ruins their beauty? Sandra Bullock is a good example. She is probably so pretty that she doesn’t need makeup at all, but she cakes it on in layers!

This kind of makeup use doesn’t enhance anyone’s beauty, nor does it make you look younger, and I don’t think men like it either. I have read info from many different sources that states that men hate it when they can actually see the makeup you are wearing on your face, especially on the skin. They much prefer a natural looking face, such as Christy Brinkley, who uses very light makeup.

She still uses makeup, but she does it in very subtle ways, which makes her face look naturally radiant, fresh and glowing.

I am a great believer in enhancing your natural beauty, and I don’t see any point in actually covering it up. Don’t believe the hype from makeover books for women over 50 where they tell you that the older you get, the heavier your makeup should be! Is heavy makeup supposed to make you look younger and more attractive??? NOT!

If you are over 50, the most important thing to do is to tint your eyebrows to get rid of any gray hairs. This will frame your face and give you a younger look, and nobody will even know that you use a tint. The most natural looking eyebrow tint that I have found is called “Refectocil” and I use the color “light brown” which tints the eyebrows in the most natural looking color, and the whole process only takes 5 minutes!

Next, pile on the mascara, use a translucent moisturizer, cover up your spots with cover stick, and use an illuminating cream under the eyes. Put a little bit of cream blush on the apples of your cheeks. It is harder to apply than powder blush, but it looks way more natural and glowy.

Top it off with some tinted lip gloss, and you are good to go! Forget about heavy duty lipsticks, lip liners and full coverage foundations and powders. Just keep it light, and use soft colors, and you will retain a younger look for a longer time.
