As you all know, I’m not into chemicals, lazers, surgery or botox, even though I am born hopelessly vain and would like to preserve some youthfulness as long as possible. So, I’m always looking for alternative, more natural ways to keep the skin nice.
Recently, I discovered two very simple methods that I wanted to share with the rest of you. The first one is a very simple massage that I learned years and years ago from a shiatzu teacher. He used it on people’s back, to increase circulation. I just remembered this, and thought to myself, “Why not use it on the face?” So, I tried it over the last week or so, and it works great and feels good, too.
The technique is simple, and you can practice this on your thighs first. To get a feel for it, grab one hand around the wrist, and shake it. Keep the wrist on the hand that is shaken loose. It will flop back and forth. This is the right way. Now, try both hands. Lift your arms up and down, wrists flopping, and every time they come down, let the fingertips hit your thighs lightly. This is very different from pushing the fingertips into your thighs – they hit the thigh with just the weight of your floppy hands. It feels almost like heavy rain on your skin, and after doing it for a while, your skin starts to feel warm and glowing. The tempo should be quick, tap, tap, tap…
Now, you are ready to try it on your face. After using natural face cleanser and spritzing the face with rosewater toner, while you are waiting for the toner to dry a bit, tap your face with your fingertips. Make sure you tap every inch of your face, forehead, nose, cheeks, etc, and pay special attention to the area below the eyes.
One reason why we get bags under the eyes is lack of circulation which causes liquid to accumulate. By tapping this area, blood starts flowing, and liquid will drain.
You’ll quickly see the effect of this, because not only is it good for the skin, but the face is also full of acupressure points that will keep you healthy and give your skin a fresh glow.
This little ritual only takes minutes to do while you are waiting for the products to penetrate the skin, but you’ll notice the effect within days. So, it is well worth your time and effort. Just look at it as a new way of loving yourself more. Remember, skin care is all about pampering and loving yourself – so here is your chance…
I’ll give you the other tip tomorrow.
