Age of Aquarius

The new Age of Aquarius is upon us and the Age of Pisces is finished. The Age of Pisces started around the time when Jesus was crucified. This very tragic event became the beginning of a whole era of new authority figures and victims. (The authority figures actually created the victims). We looked up to and trusted authority figures, and did what we were told without questioning them, or our own hearts. Did you know that the soldier who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki slept well that night, and never even questioned what he had done, simply because he had only followed orders, which is what soldiers are supposed to do!

But soldiers weren’t the only ones who “followed orders.” Women have always had to do what they were told by authority figures in power, even when it was potentially harmful to their bodies. Just look at childbirth practices, and you’ll see what I mean. Did you know why women had to lie on their backs to give birth to their children? I heard that one of the French kings (Louis something or rather) loved to peak through a whole in the curtain when someone was giving birth. And because he couldn’t see very well from where he stood, he suggested that the woman lies on her back with her legs open, so he could get a better view. Since the doctors also liked this arrangement, it stuck, even though it is the worst possible position for any woman to give birth. The natural inclination is to work with gravity, to sit up, stand up, walk around or get on all fours. But, no, she was told to lie down and push, with no help from gravity. So, it is no wonder that births became complicated events that had to be done in hospitals instead of at home!

Hospitals have a lot to answer for, even though they are supposed to “help” people. Take a peak at childbirth practises from 50-60 years ago – not only were women on their backs, they were also completely anesthetized before giving birth. Then the midwife or nurse would push on the belly until the baby came out!!! Some great experience that must have been for baby and mom! Welcome to the world, little baby! Sorry about the violent entry!

A lady I was working for at some point, actually experienced this when she gave birth to her daughter. She told me that when she was in her late twenties, she had to go into the hospital for a severe belly ache. They “put her under” and when she woke up, she felt much better. Two days later, the nurses asked her if she wanted to see her baby. She said “What baby?” She hadn’t even known that she was pregnant! She had just thought she was putting on weight, without knowing why. I wonder how she could have missed the fact that she no longer had her periods for nine months! Or that the baby was kicking! Beats me! Maybe she thought it was just a bad case of indigestion? Poor girly!

So, why did we put up with this kind of nonsense? Why did we trust the so called “authorities?” Why did we allow them to make us into victims? Why didn’t we rebel? Why didn’t we tell the leaders of our countries to work things out on paper, instead of killing innocent people with guns and bombs to get their points across? And, why didn’t we tell our male docs that WOMEN are the authorities on childbirth and nursing practices, shocking as it may be, and that our bodies have their own internal wisdom that needs to be honored? It happened because we lived in a time of victim consciousness, and this is one of the things that has to change when we enter the Age of Aquarius. Now, the time has come to take our power back, to claim our rights as women, to become personally responsible for our own actions, as well as our health and well being, and to stop trusting authority figures with blind faith.

If you had a beautiful birth experience, and want to share your story, please comment below. I love to hear beautiful birth stories. (No victim stories, please! My vision for this blog is to share and put energy into the vision of what we want the future to be like. That is why I only want beautiful stories. Let’s leave the past and hold a more positive vision for the future).
