Busy Fall

I need at least 30 hour days! Between running a blog and a skincare business, and building a new house with my husband, making sure the bills get paid, calculating rebar and concrete, making skin care products and ordering enough bottles and ingredients, I’m too busy for my own good. And, did I mention that I am a mother and a homeopathic practitioner, too? And on top of that, we are moving to a different house this weekend, after pouring concrete on Thursday. So, please bear with me, if I don’t have time to write posts in my blog regularly. More will come, I promise. I just have to get my head above the concrete first…

Rattle Snake Bites

No matter how lovely it is to live in the middle of nowhere, it does have its disadvantages, too. Rattle snakes are probably the biggest downfall! Those pesky little things blend right in, and if you don’t watch, you may get yourself bitten!

One lady got bitten a couple of years ago, while walking down the warm road in the dark one night. The dum thing was, nobody believed her, because it seems that all the hospitals were under the delusion that rattle snakes don’t live in the rockies.

She came to see me for homeopathic help a week after she was bitten, after the two local hospitals had turned her down and prescribed Valium because she was hysterically insisting that something had bitten her, and that she was dying! You should have seen her leg! It was black and purple from the knee to the foot, with fang marks in the middle of the leg, and all they could say was “what a peculiar bruise!”

Anyway, I saved her leg, as well as her life with my little tiny homeopathic pills that normal doctors think is nothing but quackery.
To see a picture of her leg, before and after using a homeopathic remedy, CLICK HERE.

Yesterday, I again got to see the miracle of homeopathy, when a friend of mine called up and told me that her dog had been bitten by something terrible, possibly a snake. She asked me if I could do something, since she was an hour from the nearest vet hospital, and she was afraid the dog wouldn’t make it unless we could manage some kind of miracle. Although I don’t normally treat animals, I said she could bring the dog over, and I’d do whatever I could to save it.

It was such a sweet dog, and she also used the dog for search and rescue, so it wasn’t an easy dog to replace. The back paw was terribly swollen, and she couldn’t put any weight on it whatsoever. She told me the dog had tried to crawl under things to hide at home, which is never a good sign, and when she brought it to me, it was really shaky. I could feel the shakiness when I put my hands on her, and she laid very limp on my bed with the foot in the air. Not good.

I quickly made up a bottle of homeopathic snake remedy (since like cures like, you need a snake remedy in homeopathic potency to cure snake venum in physical reality), and I gave her 2 drops of a 30c potency. After I gave her the remedy, my friend got on the phone to the vet and told them the symptoms, and was told to bring the dog in immediately because all the symptoms indicated rattle snake poison!

While she was on the phone, the limp looking dog all of a sudden decided to sit up. Then she looked around, got up on her feet, and started running around, exploring. I notified my friend who was on the phone to the vet, and she couldn’t believe her eyes. Within about two minutes after giving the remedy, the swelling went down, and the dog could run without even limping! My friend was so excited that she almost couldn’t contain herself. She told me that she didn’t really know how homeopathy works, but this was absolutely miraculous!!!

My friend still took the dog to the vet, who confirmed that it was indeed a baby rattle snake bite. Baby rattle snakes are more poisonous than even grown snakes, because they don’t know how to administer the poison in small amounts, so they tend to empty all the poison when they bite. So, according to all common sense, the dog should basically have been dead by the time she got to the vet’s office. The vet was blown away! He couldn’t find anything wrong with the dog and didn’t even have to administer the $560 anti-venom! And, now he wants his very own bottle of homeopathic remedy to keep in his pocket when goes on hikes with his dog!

The truth is, homeopathy works like magic if you can manage to find the right remedy! And if it works on a dog, it can work on anyone…

Rainbow Cloud

We were driving along one day, when my daughter called from the back seat – Look, there is a rainbow cloud! A what? Rainbow cloud?
I looked out the window, and realized that it was true, it was a rainbow cloud! I told my husband to stop the car, and we watched it until it dissolved.
It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. It looked like three strands of cloud material, coiled like a DNA strand, and the whole thing was completely rainbow colored. Unfortunately, we didn’t have our camera with us, but you probably wouldn’t have believed us anyway, since it looked like some kind of amazing photoshop creation.
Another time we saw a huge shooting star going across the sky with two huge purple tails behind it! Nature is so amazing – I feel incredibly lucky to be here!

Life in the middle of nowhere

I live in a small town in rural Colorado, and the things we see here at times are really amazing. The other day, when I had a conversation with my husband in the bedroom, we all of a sudden saw a face in the window of the exterior door. It was a full sized bobcat looking in at us! Then he walked around the house before he disappeared into the forest.
The bear is also a common visitor, looking for tasty trash to eat, and unfortunately, they aren’t very scared of humans. It is fun to get a glimpse of a mountain lion once in a while, or two bobcat cubs playing and rolling down the mountain sides. However, it wasn’t quite as fun when we came home one day and found 6 racoons in our living room after they discovered the cat door…
Deer and antilope are everywhere, and once in a while we see a skunk or a porcupine, too. Life itself is so full of abundance! Silly humans are the only beings on earth that live in poverty and lack.
However did we manage to create lack in an environment that is characterized by unbelievably generous abundance? Maybe we have to get back in tune with nature again…

Green Beauty Update

As some of you may know, I am on a mission to create awareness about the use of chemicals in skin care products. You may also know that I have created my own skin care line called Green Beauty Cosmetics which is made without any toxic or carcinogenic chemicals. These products are made with the best natural ingredients I could find, and they are made specifically for women with dull, dry, mature or menopausal skin, like I have.

I recently signed the “Compact for safe cosmetics” which is a pledge to make products without using any health hazardous chemicals, and they also have something called the “cosmetics database” where you can search for any product or ingredient to see how harmful or harmless the product is.

I just wanted to let you know that they have recently added my whole product line to their database. CLICK HERE if you want to see the safety rating of all of the Green Beauty Cosmetics products.

And, while you are in there, why don’t you look up any other products you would like to know about, too. Don’t take for granted that organic or natural products are actually good for you! Like I mentioned in a previous post, there are no FDA regulations about the use of toxic ingredients in skin care products. Basically what that means, is that skin care producers can mix all the natural or organic ingredients with up to 30% pure poison and still call it organic. Take a look for yourself. I guarantee it will blow your mind…

Safe Cosmetics

What is all the fuss about safe cosmetics? Aren’t all cosmetics that is sold to the public safe to use? I used to think it was. I thought that all cosmetics was regulated by the FDA, and I also thought that all the gibberish on the back of the labels were simply latin names for herbal ingredients. Little did I know…

The truth is, the FDA regulates drugs, not cosmetics. Unless it is considered a drug, they simply don’t get involved unless there are lots of complaints from consumers. The fact that you can find cosmetics and body care products on the shelves in every supermarket doesn’t mean that the products are safe to use. Even certified organic products only has to contain 70% organic ingredients, the rest can be pure poison, and it can still be sold as “organic.” And, because everything you put on your skin, eventually can end up in your blood stream, these kinds of chemicals can seriously affect your health over time!

There is an organization called “the campaign for safe cosmetics” that has collected a list of companies that pledge to only use safe ingredients in the products they make. My own company, Green Beauty Cosmetics, has signed this pledge, and the product line is now in the process of being added to the cosmetics database. CLICK HERE to research the database about Green Beauty Cosmetics, or any other product or ingredient you would like to know about. This site is very helpful because they have thousands of products and ingredients listed. You can simply search for anything you have in your bathroom, and it will blow your mind to see what you are actually putting on your skin every day!

I also got a link to a very eye opening video today. CLICK HERE to see the video clip from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, and make sure you share it with all your friends, too!!!

About a year ago, when I discovered how much deceit there is in the beauty industry, I decided to create an alternative to toxic and carcinogenic skin care products. So, after studying skincare with Victoria Rayner at the Rayner Institute, I created my very own natural skin care line called Green Beauty Cosmetics. These products don’t just make you look good, they make you feel good as well, because none of them will compromise your health in any way. Right now, I have 12 new products that are safe for anyone to use. CLICK HERE if you want to check it out.

We may not be able to change the system or the corporate business practises that are all completely money driven, but we can do something to become much more aware, because awareness gives us choice. Therefore, spread the word, and start demanding safe cosmetics! We no longer have to put poisons on our skins – healthy alternatives do exist! Visit the cosmetics database and they’ll tell you which ones they recommend.

Skin care, different skin types

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

I have recently heard many women state that they only wish to use ONE skin care product when they get out of the shower. They don’t want to buy exfoliators, cleansers, toners and so on. So the question is, is it enough to only use one product on your skin?

When you are very young and your skin is plump and healthy, you might be able to get away with only one product. My 9 year old daughter uses a light hydrating lotion on her face after taking a bath. It keeps her skin soft, and also protects from the cold in the winter. However, this kind of skin care regimen is no good when the skin starts showing signs of time. At that point, you need more than just one cream or lotion because you can’t cover all your skin needs in one layer.

The more mature your skin gets, the more different ingredients it needs to stay elastic and healthy. The first area to be affected by age, hormones, temperature and UV radiation is the area around the eyes. Aging in this area starts to show up as early as in the early twenties. The skin around the eyes have no sweat glands, so it tends to simply dry up since it has no protective barrier to hold moisture in.

Moisture is the most important thing you can put around the eyes. It can be in the form of a toner or spritz, or a light moisturizing face cream or serum. In addition, you also need an oily or buttery barrier to keep the moisture from evaporating. These products should be layered, with the moisturizing agents first, to allow them to penetrate the skin, and an emollient barrier on top that keeps the skin soft and prevents the moisture you just added from evaporating. Other ingredients that should be considered around the eyes are anti-oxidants that prevent formation of wrinkles from UV damage. So, really, what you want in your facial cream or eye cream is moisture (water, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, etc.), a buttery barrier (coconut, shea, jojoba etc), and anti-oxidants (green tea, acai berries, vitamin E or C, etc), and ideally, these ingredients should be layered and not just contained in a single cream.

So why can’t we just put all of these ingredients into one product? You can, but it won’t give you the maximum benefit of the ingredients. The reason is, some of these ingredients are made to penetrate the skin and moisturize the deeper layers, and other ingredients are supposed to sit on top of the skin to soften and protect.

A lot of times, you’ll hear people say that if you have dry or mature skin, you need a rich cream. Not so! If you put a rich cream on dry or mature skin, it will simply sit on the surface without increasing the moisture levels in the skin itself, and if you want to improve the way your skin looks, you really need to do both.

Therefore, the best solution is to use products that can be layered, where each product has a specific purpose. For example, if your skin is normal or oily, you probably won’t need to add a barrier to the skin. A light natural face moisturizer is all you need after cleansing and toning. If, however, you have dry or mature skin, you must add moisture first of all, and it has to be as a thin serum so that it can bathe your skincells in moisture and penetrate into the deeper layers. Then, after allowing your serum to sink in, you add your rich, buttery barrier cream to soften the skin and keep the moisture in.

This is why, using one product on your face is basically useless, unless we are teenagers, or even pre-teens. What we need are products that can be layered, depending on what each individual skin type needs. This can vary with age, hormones, temperature, and UV exposure.

Rules and Regulations

We live in a society that is filled with rules and regulations. There are boards all over the place, interfering, meddling and controlling, telling everyone what they can and can’t do, and basically taking away the indivicual’s rights to decide for themselves what they want. Why is that?

There are two reasons for this – one is that freedom only works with responsibility. It is like two wings of a bird. If you want to fly, you have to have both. Having only freedom, and refusing to take responsibility will create nothing but trouble and eventually result in anarchy and chaos. Having only responsibility and no freedom, gives your life a stagnant, joyless quality. The solution is to embrace both freedom and responsibility, and let your awareness guide your actions.

The problem is, most people don’t have enough awareness to embrace both sides of duality. They’ll choose either freedom, or responsibility, and these two sides will start fighting among themselves.

The side that chooses responsibility, becomes so over responsible that it isn’t enough for them to just be responsible for themselves – they have to tell everyone else what to do as well because they are on a mission to kill people’s freedom. Why should you enjoy your freedom if they live a joyless life full of seriousness and responsibility? You need to grow up and become serious, too, and if you don’t want to, they’ll make you.

These are all second chakra issues. In India they talk about 7 chakras, which are energy centers that are situated in different areas of the body. The first chakra has to do with basic survival. The second chakra has to do with power, money and sexual relationships, and unfortunately, humanity resonnates with only the first and second chakra so far. Even though human beings have been on the earth for thousands of years, our mass consciousness has only reached the second chakra.

The first chakra has to do with tribal issues – do as the tribe tells you, don’t think for yourself, follow traditions and tribal laws, etc. This is where we find military, courts, traditional religions, etc.

On the second chakra level we find politicians and law makers. Because second chakra perception of reality is all about who is in power over who, our country is, unfortunately, ruled by people with very little insight, or consciousness, and you can’t expect to find any love or compassion here, since these qualities belong to the fourth chakra, which they haven’t reached yet. These people love to regulate and make others obey to preserve their power, and, of course, they get paid extremely well, since love equals money on the second chakra level. Basicallly, the amount of money made is what makes their lives worth living. (That explains the expectations of bonuses etc – it is the only kind of love they know, and everybody wants some kind of love, whatever it means to them).

Too bad humanity hasn’t gotten any further in its expansion of consciousness! Nothing has changed much since Jesus chased the money changers out of the temple over 2000 years ago! And if people don’t start “getting it” soon, nothing will change in the next 2000 years either.

The people who are in power don’t easily give up their power. The more people want freedom, the more the politicians and lawmakers clamp down with rules and regulations to keep people from rebelling. But, they can’t stop a rebellion of consciousness from happening. We must hold the vision of a better world, and promote rebellion (with responsibility) any way we can. We must work on ourselves to break free from old useless patterns that we carry from the past, and we must, most of all, teach our young ones to stand up for themselves, and to become authentic beings instead of obedient zombies. The time has come to WAKE UP!
