Here is an excerpt:
I switched to natural and organic products until I discovered that even those can still contain as much as 30% pure poison!!! Evidently, it is very difficult to make stable products without using synthetic and petroleum based emulsifiers, and containers that you stick your fingers into, such as jars, must be preserved with parabens, or they can pose a health risk from the continuous contamination! But, that didn’t change the fact that I basically couldn’t trust the products I was using to be beneficial to my skin or to my health…

Oh, the troubles we women have to face!!! Eternal quests for the perfect mascara, the perfect lip color, the perfect hair color, and last but not least, the perfect hair cut!

As we get older, we look in the mirror, only to find that the hair style that we have felt so happy with for the last 25 years, no longer flatters our features. Now what? How do we know what works and what doesn’t?

One of the things that happens with age is that our colors and features change. Everything gets softer. The skin gets paler, the hair color gets less vibrant and even the body (parts) get softer. The natural reaction is to buy brighter and brighter clothes to counteract what is happening, and to add a dash of bright red lipstick. This NEVER works. Only young girls can get away with that kind of madness. No, what we have to do is get a softer look, so that the clothes, hair and makeup is harmonious with our new and changed self.

The lip color has to be softened from a bright red to more of a soft nude color, the hair has to go from very dark or very blond, to a softer color that is not so extreme. The clothes must be more muted, and the hair needs to follow as well.

Take a look in the mirror – does your hair style make you look like you are wearing a helmet? Or does it make you look like you have puppy dog ears on each side of your head? Do you have a mid part, with hair cut straight across at shoulder length? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you seriously need a new look!

One of the easiest ways to make your hair style look softer is to add whispy layers throughout the hair. Layers are awesome. They frame the face and add life to your hair. They make you look loose and easy going instead of stern and severe. And, what about some light bangs? Bangs, whether they hang down, or you sweep them to the side, makes you look years younger, and the best thing is, they cover up any wrinkle you have on your forehead.

If you still aren’t sure what will look good on you, you can always upload a picture of your head with hair pulled back to something like ivillage.com and try on different hair styles and colors, before you actually see your hair dresser. When you find something that you like, just print off the picture and take it with you to the next hair cutting appointment.

Change is good! After you allow yourself to change, you feel so good. Remember, life is supposed to be an adventure. It is better to make a mistake, than to be stuck with something that isn’t working anyway. So, take a deep breath, and just go for it!

A lot of skin cancers show up on the face right under the eyes. This is often an area where we avoid putting sunscreen, since we don’t want that stuff too close to our eyes. However, the skin is very thin and delicate under the eyes so it needs to be protected.

Coppertone has finally made a facial sunscreen that doesn’t burn if it gets a bit closer to the eyes. Or, another option would be to look for a concealer with SPF, and apply that to the undereye area.

If you wonder what skin cancer looks like, as a general rule, anything scaly could be cancer. Cancer are cells that are growing out of control, so if you have scaly spots that won’t go away, definitely have them looked at. You often see these spots on your arms, upper back or even on the top of your ears.
Another type of cancer looks like a small pink ulcer that won’t heal. If you have one of those things under your eye, definitely have it looked at.
And, then, of course, there is melanoma, which is a very destructive kind of cancer. So, if you see changes in your moles, such as color changes, changes in size, symmetry or borders, have it checked as soon as possible.

It may look nice to have a tan, but is it worth the risk? You may want to opt for a fake tan, but be aware that fake tans don’t activate your melanin, so it gives you no protection in the sun, like a real tan would. So, be careful, and enjoy your pale skin….

Do you know that most of the products in your bathroom are full of toxic chemicals that can affect your health? Most of the people I talk to believe that whatever you can buy in a store must be regulated and safe for you. NOT SO! Watch this short video to learn the ugly truth about what is really in your products: CLICK HERE
If you want to know more about how safe or unsafe your daily beauty products are, go to cosmetics database and search for whatever product you want to know the truth about.

I have made my own natural skin care line as a healthy alternative to all the toxic skin care products in the stores. It is called Green Beauty Cosmetics. CLICK HERE to find out what the cosmetics database has to say about Green Beauty Cosmetics.

I’m on a mission to make the world a little less toxic, that is why I created an alternative for health conscious people who want to use products that won’t compromise their health. If you want to visit my website, there is a link in the left margin of this blog, or you can CLICK HERE to go to my webstore.

I am so excited. I have just discovered how to avoid a problem I have had since I started using mascara. The problem is always that the mascara smudges under my eyes, probably because my eyes are a bit deep set. I have tried mascara after mascara. For a while, I even bought 3 different ones at a time at Walmart, and just took them back at the next shopping and got my money back. I just couldn’t find anything that didn’t smudge, no matter how many good reviews and stars other people gave them.

Anyway, I have finally found the solution, and I’m still surprised when I look in the mirror at the end of the day, and it still hasn’t migrated down my cheeks. And the solution is so simple – I just put a tiny bit of mascara on the bottom lashes, and then run my finger across the tips while the mascara is still wet. It still leaves the lashes black, but it won’t smudge because there is no excess mascara on the lashes.

I came up with this idea the other day. Now I have tried it for a few days, and it really does work. I even went and did an African dance class that made me sweat so much that my hair got completely wet, but my mascara still stayed put. As a final test, I went to the local hot springs swimming pool last Sunday, and it still didn’t smudge.

So, it isn’t a matter of finding the perfect formula. Many formulas will probably work. Just put less mascara on and wipe the excess off the tips, and voila, gorgeous lashes all day…

Since I’m always on the quest for the perfect mascara, I couldn’t resist the new Maybelline Falsies mascara, which comes in a beautiful purple container.

The brush is really great – it has just enough curve that it is easy to apply the mascara without getting it all over your cheeks. I love it.

The mascara is supposed to be applied until you get the desired result. Don’t let it dry between coats, just keep piling it on. Just for fun, I put it on one eye, and then looked in the mirror to compare. And, it is true, with this mascara, it does actually look like you are wearing false eye lashes!!!

The only down fall of this one, and every other mascara I have ever tried, is the fact that it leaves a slight shadow under your eyes at the end of the day. So, I came up with a great idea:

I apply just a touch of mascara to the bottom lashes. Then, before it dries, I run the tip of my finger lightly across the lashes. It will still leave them black, but it removes all excess mascara. The result is, no more shadow below!!! Yeah! Definitely a winner!

This is the best mascara I have found so far! So if you like huge, dramatic lashes, you can’t go wrong with this one!
